Project background
Classic tools, native workflow.
macMAKE is a Linux-native development toolchain for Classic Macintosh PowerPC applications. The latest public release is v0.1.1; it adds bounded experimental native M68000 application builds.
What macMAKE does
The project models important CodeWarrior-era project behavior in a modern CLI. The v0.1.1 Linux workflow builds Classic PowerPC CFM/PEF applications and packages them in MacBinary II. It also contains an experimental native M68000 C profile that creates a bounded segmented application using classic CODE resources. This is not CFM-68K or general compatibility with System 6–9.
In QEMU 8.2.2 (mac99/G4) running Mac OS 9.2.2, makePAD built by macMAKE v0.1.1 was observed launching, accepting text, showing its unsaved-changes dialog on quit, and returning cleanly to Finder, with real-guest runtime acceptance verified. The successful makePAD run verifies that specific application build path, not every application or OS version. See the compatibility tracker.
The product combines a proprietary macMAKE core with separately licensed GNU compiler and Binutils components and third-party dependencies. User-supplied Apple or Metrowerks SDK material remains outside the distribution and under its own terms.
Who makes it
macMAKE is developed by MPLS LLC. The GitHub organization and account name is mplsllc.
Development is assisted by large language models. Product behavior and release claims are tested against the project’s retained build and artifact evidence.
Licensing and source
The macMAKE CLI remains proprietary and closed-source under the MPLS LLC Proprietary Binary License v1.0. It permits free personal and commercial development use, including use in CI and coding-agent workflows, while restricting public redistribution of proprietary macMAKE binaries to MPLS LLC-authorized channels. GCC, GNU Binutils, compiler runtime files, Rust dependencies, and examples retain their own licenses. The matching v0.1.1 GNU corresponding-source release is macmake-v0.1.1-rc4-toolchain-sources. User-supplied Apple and Metrowerks SDK files are not included.

The website sends page and interaction statistics to the Umami service at stats.mp.ls. The tracker is restricted to macmake.dev and www.macmake.dev, respects browser Do Not Track, and excludes URL query strings and fragments. The installer sends a best-effort completion event after successful runs unless disabled with --no-analytics or MACMAKE_DISABLE_ANALYTICS=1. See the installation page for the data and limits.
