# Native 68K makePAD mouse-interaction retest candidate — 2026-10-16

**Evidence class:** unreleased macMAKE development build; not included in
macMAKE v0.1.0.
**Target:** Classic Mac OS 8.1, Motorola 68K, Quadra 650 compatibility profile.
**Runtime retest:** pending owner observation.

## First candidate observation

The owner tested the first native makePAD candidate on Mac OS 8.1. The
application opened and accepted typed text. The owner could not drag the
window or click the File menu, and the scrollbar appeared glitched. This
confirms startup and limited input only; it does not verify makePAD's mouse,
menu, or scrolling behavior.

The first candidate was 17,280 bytes with SHA-256
`25b4626864215052d42cfcbbe36d70549408bee4b8f61a3ffbc69d6d260ea26a`.

## Replacement candidate

The application and modal-dialog loops now use `SystemTask` followed by
`GetNextEvent`, matching the event-polling sequence in the native HelloWindow
fixture that the owner confirmed works. Window dragging uses desktop-wide
bounds, also matching that fixture. macMAKE now exports its existing native
68K `GetNextEvent` veneer under the standard Toolbox symbol so ordinary app
source links without an application-specific veneer name.

The same six makePAD C89 translation units compiled and linked. The resulting
resource fork passed macMAKE's structural inspector: CODE 0/CODE 1 structure,
Finder `APPL`/`MPAD` metadata, SIZE resource, and absence of a CFM fragment.

- Status: host build and structure verified; owner runtime retest pending.

The development target uses user-supplied Universal Interfaces headers through
a project compatibility overlay. It does not use Retro68, Metrowerks MSL
archives, or an InterfaceLib import stub. No SDK contents or private source
files are included in this report. The public macMAKE v0.1.0 release does not
include native 68K application generation.
